I think my brother learned some valuable things from being the only boy among Katie and I.
He learned how to sense and avoid drama pre-episode, how to endure tedious and probably embarassing theater, music and dance performances, and he learned the pleasure of scaring a girl really, really bad. I hope he realizes the debt he owes us. I fully expect that Sammy, whether he gets brothers in the future or nay, will be able to trace countless benefits to the fact that he was born closely after Miranda, whom you can find by googling the term "girly girl." Okay not really but you get the idea.
One of these is "lack of boy dress-ups coupled with an overabundance of girl dress-ups." Owing to the generosity of relatives and friends sensing Miranda's propensity for drama (not difficult to detect, I might add), we have two drawers plus a couple of fancy hanging pieces of sparkly, floofy, high-heeled, accessory laden, feminine dress-ups.
And although she sometimes comes up with less-princessy combos like this,
Sammy has been left scrounging amongst the dress-ups for unisex hats, scarves...heels...
the 10 dollar Batman costume from Walmart. The pants and sleeves had to be hemmed and the mask is a bit big and droopy, and we didn't buy the more expensive version with the puffy muscles (puhleeze people...fake muscles with the genes he's inherited? Scoff!). But he LOVES it. And when he's not wearing the mask he puts it on the front of his playskool car as a hood ornament and we have "The Batmobile." That's ingenuity the likes of the real Batman, I'd say.
And he's never even seen Batman. That's how much he was longing for boy dress-ups.
Way to assert your manhood, son.

I wanted to comment on the 'Grumpy' post but then I came upon the 'Boy in the middle' post and thought only two things:
1~ You're Pregnant.
2~ You were one TALL girl. I know Patrick and he's tall, and you... you dwarf him in the picture! I mean, you were really much bigger than him. Really! Very much taller...An inapproprate amount for the age difference... I'm glad you got over that.
sam is so great! i loved watching him and craig today. i'll have to remember boy dress ups after this girl.
oh and the picture is awesome of you. totally doesn't even look like you.
Sorry Sharon, but although Sambo is very manly overall, I wanted to just reiterate how much single sons such as Samuel and myself really have to go through. It is, in fact, a very confusing and sometimes scary position to be placed in. Case in point: patrickandxiaoyu.blogspot.com
Also, if you look at the second post you will see a striking resemblance between our picture with Yao Ming, and the picture of us when we were children. You WERE huge! Why wasn't I scared of you? Or a better question, why didn't YOU put the bat next to YOUR bed so that you could beat up any robbers that decided to come into our room? I'm pretty sure you could have done more damage than me.
(p.s. xiaoyu thinks your pregnant too)
I think, perhaps, I need to enlist your assistance in writing my book(s). Whaddya say?
Pow! Zap! Wham! Sam!
Make us proud Batman!
Sharon,
Since we are still estrogen-free over here at the Kent home, a huge box full of Superman, 3 different kinds of Batman, Darth Vader, Spiderman, Obi Wan Kenobi, Scooby Doo and so on and so on can be found at our home. Not a frilly dress in sight.
Sammy is welcome to come over and have at it. But he will really have to assert his manhood to get Zander to share, as it turns out the kid's pretty possessive when it comes children his age trying to lay a finger on anything he thinks is his.
And are you pregnant?
duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, Bat-Sam! Love it!
You forgot to mention that my clothes and jewelry are frequently pinned and tucked and rolled and covered with chocolate and melty purple popsicle and salty popcorn and well... I can't complain at all because I never had a little sister, and I was too immature to appreciate when you could steal.. I mean share my clothes and lip stuff and such. SO, it makes my day to see her all dressed up and acting that dramatically torturous to our brother way that you and I used to act. It is definitely worth any damage that is done to my belongings. BECAUSE, it is that real treasure that moth and dust can't corrupt or destroy. Those little kids of your are that treasure. I LOVE EM!!!
Sweetie...please...c'mon...Update already. How else will I know what I miss at home?
Fernando
Sharon! You are a hilarious creature. "Sammy has been left scrounging amongst the dress-ups for unisex hats, scarves...heels..." What wording! Too funny. I'm happy for Sam and his Batman costume. And who needs to actually see the movie Batman to enjoy the costume??? Not Sambo. He appears to be easily pleased, which is a huge bonus for his pregnant Mama. Just followin' the crowd here... :)
Last comment: I love Fernando's plea. How much longer can you keep him waiting??
